Borrow from Other Libraries

Requesting Books to be Delivered to Your Home Library

If you weren’t able to find the item you wanted in our catalogue, try finding it elsewhere in Manitoba using fILL, a catalogue for all MB libraries. If you find it at another library, request it to be delivered to your home library for pick up! For help with using the FILL site check out the Patron ILL Self-Search Guide . You can also come in or give us a phone call or fill out a form to request an Inter-Library Loan. The request form is available at the library or printable along with our ILL Brochure here. Our staff will attempt to locate the book in another library and send a request on your behalf.

Eligibility
The Interlibrary Loan (ILL) service from the Jake Epp Library is available to anyone with a valid Jake Epp Library card, no unpaid fees or fines, and a responsible borrowing history at our library.

Borrowers who frequently return library items overdue; fail to follow requirements (including not paying outstanding fines, photocopy charges, or replacement/damage costs); or fail to cancel ILL requests for items no longer needed may incur the suspension of Interlibrary Loan privileges.

The Librarian and/or ILL supervisor have the authority to suspend or reinstate privileges.

Notification of Delivery
ILL items requested but no longer needed must be cancelled before item is sent by lending library to avoid charges.

Borrowers will be notified by email (preferred) or phone (if email is not available) that their item(s) have arrived, using contact information on ILL request form. The library is not responsible if borrower cannot be reached for notification within 14 days.  Borrowed items will be held for pickup until their due date.

Use of Materials
Borrowers can have a maximum of 5 active ILL requests at one time – including a maximum of 1 DVD.

Loan periods and renewal of materials borrowed through Interlibrary Loan will depend on the lending library’s loan policies. If an extension of a loan period is anticipated, borrowers should contact the library 5 business days before the due date to avoid potential overdue fines.  If the lending library is not able to renew, the item may be requested again after two months.

Parents/guardians are responsible for monitoring their children’s reading content and condition of materials.

Fees and Fines
Jake Epp Library does not charge for most ILLs, with the exception of DVDs, which are charged at the same rate as our own DVDs.   Borrowers will be notified in advance of any fees charged by the lending library. Fees from other libraries for ILL materials must be paid when picking up the item. Unpaid fees will remain on the borrower’s account even if the item is no longer needed upon arrival.

Borrowers are responsible for all fines.
ILL items returned late will be charged an overdue fine.
Charges for lost/damaged items are set by the lending library.
ILL items requested but no longer needed will be charged $5.00 per item unless request was cancelled by borrower before item sent by lending library.
