Summer Reading Club
We know that it is important for children to keep reading during the months of summer vacation so they maintain their reading skills. The Library presents a reading program that will be fun and also provide motivation to keep reading all summer long. We offer prizes based on participation – not how much is read. There are also craft classes for children who love to do things with their hands.
We offer our summer reading club in conjunction with the TD Bank program that offers free resources for all public libraries. Local businesses donate prizes and financial support and it is in large part due to their support that we can continue to offer an excellent summer program.
Summer Reading Club is open to all children who have completed Kindergarten up to the completion of Grade 8.
Cost is FREE – Library Membership is required.
Non Resident Families may purchase a 2-month conditional family membership.
- At least one child must be enrolled and participating in the SRC
- Cost for 2 months is $10
- Membership is valid from date of registration to the end August
If families choose to extend their membership into a full year, the $10 payment will be part of the full payment and the card is extended to the end of June the following year.
Registration begins June 25 and the program itself runs from July 3 to August 18. All reading logs must be in before we close (9 p.m.) on Aug 20 in-person or by 11:59 p.m. online. A wind up party with grand prize drawings will take place on Tuesday, August 21 at 10:30 a.m. Ryan Price will be performing a magic show, which will be followed by the grand prize draws and a hot dog lunch. The theme this year is Geeking Out!
