Responsibilities:

•Develop, coordinate, and implement a diverse range of community programs and events that align with the library’s mission and goals.
•Collaborate with local organizations, schools, and community groups to identify needs and interests, and to build partnerships for program delivery.
•Manage program budgets, resources, and logistics effectively to ensure successful execution of events.

•Promote programs through various channels, including social media, newsletters, and community outreach efforts.

Qualifications:

•Bachelor’s degree or Diploma in Library Science, Education, Communications, Arts, or a related field is an asset
•Experience in program development, event planning, or community engagement
•Strong organizational and project management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines
•Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with diverse audiences and stakeholders.
•Creative thinking and problem-solving abilities, with a passion for fostering community connections and lifelong learning.
•Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite and experience with social media platforms preferred.

Job Title: Library Technology, Innovation and Change Manager

Location: Jake Epp Public Library, Steinbach, MB

Position Type: Part-Time-20 hours/week

Starting Salary: $21/hour – Entry Level

Overview: In our ongoing efforts to improve library services and enhance patron experience, Jake Epp Public Library is seeking an ambitious, dedicated and innovative Library Technology, Innovation and Change Manager to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing the library’s IT ongoing infrastructure, analyzing data to improve services, and supporting digital literacy initiatives. This role is essential in enhancing the library’s technological capabilities and ensuring the effective use of data to drive decision-making.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Technology Strategy and Planning:
  • Develop and implement technology strategies that align with the library’s mission and goals.
  • Evaluate emerging technologies and assess their potential impact on library services.
  • Lead initiatives to integrate new technologies into library operations.
  1. Innovation Management:
  • Foster a culture of innovation within the library.
  • Identify and implement innovative solutions to improve library services and user experience.
  • Encourage staff to experiment with new ideas and technologies.
  1. Change Management:
  • Manage the process of change within the library, ensuring smooth transitions when new technologies or processes are introduced.
  • Communicate changes effectively to staff and patrons.
  • Provide training and support to staff to help them adapt to new systems and processes.
  1. Project Management:
  • Oversee technology-related projects from inception to completion.
  • Coordinate with vendors, stakeholders, and library staff to ensure successful project outcomes.
  • Monitor project progress and adjust plans as necessary to meet objectives.
  1. Technical Support and Maintenance:
  • Ensure the reliable operation of library technology systems, including hardware, software, and networks.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues in a timely manner.
  • Implement security measures to protect library data and systems.
  1. User Experience and Engagement:
  • Enhance the digital and physical user experience through technology.
  • Collect and analyze user feedback to inform technology decisions.
  • Develop and deliver training programs for library users on new technologies and digital resources.

Educational and Professional Background:

  • Preferred Bachelor’s degree or Master’s degree in Library and Information Studies (MLIS). A Bachelor’s degree or two to three year post-secondary diploma in Information Technology, Advanced Programming, Computer Science, Data Science, Project Management, Business Analysis or related field.
  • Experience in library technology roles, such as systems librarian or digital services librarian, is highly valuable.
  • Continuing education and professional development in technology and innovation are important for staying current in the field.
