Baby & Me

In the first years of life, children’s bodies and minds grow exponentially. Baby & Me is designed to provide parents with children 0 to 12 months old with simple tools to help their children take advantage of this crucial time and reach their greatest potential. We hope to provide parents with the resources that will empower children to learn and to grow through the written word.

Each class includes a story, rhymes/finger play, literacy tips and a parent discussion.

Registration is required and space is limited. Parents must register in person at the Jake Epp Library. Library membership is not required.
If a payment is due, it must be paid at registration.

There is a ten week session beginning in September, another ten week session beginning in January, and a five week Spring session. Classes are held on Wednesdays from 10-10:30 am.

Story Hour

Story Hour is a fun and interactive program designed to help promote reading to children between the ages of 3-5. Parents are not required to remain in the Story Hour room, but must remain in the Library. If your child is comfortable without your presence we invite you to browse the library. Some parental assistance is needed during craft and snack time.

Your child will listen to stories, learn rhymes, songs and finger-plays, complete a craft and have a snack at each class.

In-Service Activities

Children always love to have a day off from the regular routine of school. But do you hear “Mom, what can I do?” Well we have a solution! Sometimes there is an In-Service Activity planned to those free days. We have posters in the Library and will also have them listed in our Upcoming Events.

Summer Reading Club

We know that it is important for children to keep reading during the months of summer vacation so they maintain their reading skills. The Library presents a reading program that will be fun and also provide motivation to keep reading all summer long. We offer prizes based on participation - not how much is read. There are also craft classes for children who love to do things with their hands.

We offer our summer reading club in conjunction with the TD Bank program that offers free resources for all public libraries. Local businesses donate prizes and financial support and it is in large part due to their support that we can continue to offer an excellent summer program.

Summer Reading Club is open to all children who have completed Kindergarten up to the completion of Grade 8.

Cost is FREE - Library Membership is required.

Non Resident Families may purchase a 2-month conditional family membership.

Conditions:

  • At least one child must be enrolled and participating in the SRC
  • Cost for 2 months is $10
  • Membership is valid from date of registration to the end August

If families choose to extend their membership into a full year, the $10 payment will be part of the full payment and the card is extended to the end of June the following year.
