Internet Policy

Please read agreement carefully before you sign it. Your signature will be your commitment to abide by this Agreement and is legally binding for you and for the person you are endorsing. I understand that presentation of Photo ID will be required each time Internet Access is requested. As a parent or legal guardian of _______________ _____________________, I agree to take responsibility for this person to abide by all the rules and regulations listed below in exchange for the privilege of using the Internet Access at Jake Epp Public Library. For the purposes of this agreement, "I", "me" or "my" will refer to me and/or the person I am endorsing.
I will:

  1. Refrain from web sites that are of an explicit sexual nature. i.e. pornography.
  2. Refrain from web sites that are deemed in appropriate, illegal, or unethical such as fraud, harassment, libeling or slandering of others, sending spam, discriminatory, obscene material or literature promoting illicit drug use.
  3. Refrain from web sites that are used for gambling or casino games (such as, but not limited to: poker, black jack, roulette, slots, craps, keno, and VLTs).
  4. Follow the instructions of the Library Staff and or Internet Supervisor at all times.
  5. Refrain from knowingly transmitting computer viruses or other malicious programs such as, but not limited to: spyware, adware, etc.
  6. Reimburse the Library for any damages to computer equipment, software, or network configurations caused by my actions or by down-loading viruses.
  7. Refrain from visiting chat sites or game playing unless authorized by the Library staff.
  8. Assume all risks when downloading anything from the internet to any personal devices.
  9. Pay $.20 per copy for any black and white single sided letter sized pages that I print, $.40 for double sided, and $0.75 per side in colour.
  10. Refrain from using internet access unless all documents required by the Library have been completely executed. i.e. Parent/Guardian endorsement paper for people under 18 years of age.
  11. Refrain from changing any computer settings and downloading any software onto the computers.
  12. Refrain from infringing on copyright or disregarding intellectual property rights and laws.

I have read and agree to the above Internet policies of the Jake Epp Public Library and understand that failure to comply with the terms and conditions of this User Agreement and the Library's Internet Policy may result in loss of Internet access and/or Library privileges. Unlawful activity may result in prosecution.

WiFi

The Library offers free Wifi access.
No password is needed - just look for JakeEppPublic.

Shaw Go WiFi is also available here (only for Shaw customers)

Printing

Printing is available from our public access computers.

Before printing we advise that you select Print Preview to verify the following:

  • Number of pages that you are sending to the printer (you will be held responsible for all pages you send)
  • Choose to print black & white or colour
Cost of printing
Black only
  • letter
    • one sided - $0.20
    • double sided - $0.40
  • legal
    • one sided - $0.25
    • double sided - $0.50
Colour
  • letter - $0.75 per side
  • legal - $0.80 per side

Once you have sent your print job to the printer, you will need to request the staff to complete the printing process. Payment is due at time of printing.

Scanning

We have two devices for scanning.
The photocopier scans images for printing in black and white or colour.

Public Access Computer H has a scanner attached. You can scan documents or pictures from that computer and either print (see costs above), or save to a flash drive, or send as an attachment from an email address.
